Westlake Lake House Remodel
hat do you do first when the end result needs to be a Labor of Love (and patience :-))
Start by ripping out everything blah! 😉
Then introduce remarkable focal points in each area that capture the personality of the homeowners – An elegant vintage chandelier that draws the gaze when sitting in the parlor, baroque hand made paintings that add a French colonial charm to the dining room, and a marble fireplace with a pattern that just takes the viewer’s breath away and add glamour to the living room.
The next thing was to brighten up the entire space with lighter-toned color at the same time creating a rustic and comfortable decor overall.
Once the focal points and the overall theme were in place, it was time to accessorize and dramatize. Shag rugs were picked (even before the sofas ;-)) to ensure the family dog had a cozy spot to snuggle in. A large area rug with hand-selected accessories in the cabinets around the fireplace finishes out a gorgeous and welcoming room. A pop of color never hurts when done elegantly and the dining area chairs around a sturdy round oak table do just that.
A lot of time, effort and of course, patience went into this project. But we are so pleased that the end result is a balanced, harmonious space that reflects the personality of the people who use it.
The goal of this whole home remodel was to spread a little wanderlust throughout the home, blended with refined sophistication and stirred with an homage to the owner’s love of Modern Bohemian. Design your home interior with Luxury Interior Design.
Using a wide array of colors, textures, and unusual pieces, we brought the chic yet relaxed look home.
The stone wall in the living room is a gorgeous example of bringing in a natural element that is rich in texture but structured enough to be sophisticated and polished. Playing off the angles of the stone wall, the rug is constructed of varying colors, textures and patterns of carpet tiles giving the room a creative and artsy vibe. The wood planking on the accent wall brings in another natural element but has a very warm feel. The hardwood flooring, the bathroom mirror, the nightstand add a touch of Bohemian, not to mention our favorite piece – the dining room chandelier with hand carved wood rods that create a faux candelabra. This juxtaposes the unique coffered dining room ceiling keeping the crisp architectural elements alive and well in this house without letting the boho feel overwhelming.
We wanted the space to feel curated and unpretentious, interesting and polished. Not always an easy task but we feel we struck the right balance.
